Executives from leading companies and Mexican institutions gathered at The Queen’s first Private Summit in Mexico to analyze the European market and explore potential opportunities for internationalization and investment.

The event, held at the exclusive Hyatt Regency Andares in Guadalajara (Jalisco), featured the participation of the Government of Jalisco, represented by Laura Romero Zueck, General Director of Foreign Trade, and Alfonso Mojica Navarro, General Director of Science and Innovation. Senior executives from key industries—including real estate, biomedical, agri-food, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, transport and logistics, and legal services—were also in attendance.

During the summit, the report “Europe and its opportunity spaces for Mexican companies” was presented. The analysis covers the the 27 economies of the European Union, based on a detailed study of 30 indicators grouped into four strategic pillars: project development, business ecosystem, social indicators, and institutional indicators.

The objectives of the report stem from the need to assess the opportunities offered by EU countries and institutional ecosystems, to identify reference countries, capitals, and European cities for investment and internationalization, as well as sectors and subsectors with strong growth and expansion potential.

The findings were built through cross-analysis of 30 indicators. Factors examined included: productivity rates by country and city; startup ecosystems; the number of listed companies per country; major trade fairs and conferences; nationally and internationally relevant media outlets; levels of safety and public health quality; property prices; trade agreements between Mexico and target countries; and mobility and transport infrastructure.
From this cross-analysis, three countries stand out as top opportunities for Mexican companies: France, Germany, and Sweden. They are followed, in order, by the Netherlands, Estonia, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Italy, and Poland. In terms of cities, Spain is the only country with two cities in the top 10: Madrid and Barcelona. Madrid ranks first, followed by Paris and Lisbon. Amsterdam, Dublin, Prague, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Stockholm, and Rome complete the list.

On why Europe, the report highlights several key reasons for Mexican companies seeking diversification strategies in alternative markets: preferential access through free trade agreements such as the recently signed EU–Mexico agreement; access to one of the largest and most developed markets in the world; and potential participation in major European public programs such as the NextGenerationEU funds.

Other factors emphasized include advanced manufacturing and strong supply chains; access to the European retail market valued at over 1.5 billion euros; one of the world’s largest healthcare and pharmaceutical markets (over 260.000 million euros in production value); as well as the semiconductor industry, low-carbon technologies, and the growing Defense sector.

By sector, the report outlines those that contribute most to Europe’s GDP through Gross Value Added (GVA) and employment creation, and identifies those strongly supported by EU financial and legislative policies. Key areas include manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, financial and insurance services, information and communication technologies, energy, pharmaceuticals and biosciences, tourism, semiconductors, low-carbon technologies, critical raw materials (mineral and fossil), and Defense.
